American Girl Doll Fun

Two of my nieces got American Girl dolls for Christmas.
Bet you can't guess what I'll be gearing their birthday gifts towards this year!
One neicel has a birthday this Friday so I made her up a jean skirt, little duct tape shoes, and a mini duct tape purse with doll sized money inside!

RAG SKIRT
The skirt is recycled from a pair of my husband's old jeans.
I did the rag edge on it - simple and fast!
I used the pattern from You Can Make This -- the wrap skirt pattern.
I changed it up by not making it reversible and  using a button instead of Velcro for the closure.

DUCT TAPE SHOES
You can see in this pic that they fit perfectly!
And here you can see the cork bottom I put on them.

DUCT TAPE PURSE
Lastly, I made a little duck tape purse - lined w/pink gingham fabric.
I didn't follow any tutorial for this one -- just sort of made it up as I went along.
Inside I placed some mini money for her doll to spend.
Here's two free printables featuring mini money for your dolls.
I copied these images from Bank Note World - and resized them to fit the dolls.
If you're interested in money from another country or even old American money check out the Bank Note World site -- lots of money images there.
Here's the backs

Here's another purse I made for my daughter's doll - Felicity
This one has a soft pink fabric inside and a rhinestone on the front.
You can see it fits the doll perfectly -- either as a handbag or up on her shoulder

Love your pieces for the dolls. I got my niece the twins, last year. I was freaking out at the price of the clothes (more than mine!) I have found some at craft sales for her now. I love your skirt! I can't sew, but I will try that duct tape purse when you make another one! Love the little money!! Thanks for sharing that!

Thanks for being adventurous and trying out all these neat projects! I think I may try some of those shoes at some point. (I have to buy some tape first.)

I love the way you modified the skirt to have a button instead of the Velcro.
