Special Friend

I've had this image for quite a while -- not sure where it came from - maybe a pile of stuff a friend gave me when she cleaned out her stash.
The sentiment on the side reads:
"The very best remember whens are made by very special friends"
I've known for sometime just whose birthday I would use this image on -- a very special friend of course!
The image really didn't need much added to it -- I matted it on black cardstock and attached it to a dictionary page card.  A small (dictionary page) quilled flower in the corner completes the card.
(BTW - Part of my reason for using the dictionary page was in to go along with the gift -- a book for an avid reader!)

More Mini's

More mini cards using Kraft Cardstock!
I added some flower soft and glitter for extra "pop."
I'm really like the simplicity of my recent creations -- could it be that I'm converting from the "pile-it-on" type to a "clean-and-simple" type?
Nah - probably not!

Flights of Fancy

I'm not usually pleased with my flat/simply stamped cards -- but I must say I really like how these turned out.
I'm finding that "mini" cards are a lot easier to make since there isn't as much space on the card front to fill up!
A pretty piece of background paper is also an asset to keeping them simple.
Supplies used:
  • Kraft Cardstock
  • Scallop Square Nestabilities
  • Sharpie Marker (border lines)
  • Stamps
    • Text background from Distressing (Glitz Design)
    • Flights of Fancy (Time Hotlz)
    • Sentiment from Transparent Treasures

Glittered Flowers

Here's another card set I did on Monday (at my nieces cardmaking party).
I really like how the flower turned out -- especially after I added glitter around the edges!
I usually make two of everything -- one to keep and one to give away OR one to use and one to hoard! :)
Supplies used:
  •  Kraft Cardstock
  • Scallop Square Nestabilities
  • Glitter
  • Crayola Markers
  • Sharpie Marker (border lines)
  • Stamps
    • Biblical Impressions Scripture stamp
    • Linen background stamp from Background and Beyond
    • Flower stamp from Transparent Treasures

Chalkboard Technique

I've been wanting to try my hand at the chalkboard technique for some time now.
Since my niece invited me over for an afternoon of cardmaking (yesterday) I finally got a chance to.
(BTW- I made lots of scalloped square cards while there -- you'll be seeing more of them this week!)
There are two great tutorials for this look
You can also view my Pinterest Board for more inspiration.
I embossed the bike and sentiment and then added a "pop" of color by coloring "Faith" w/watercolor markers and reheating to set.
Supplies used:
  • Kraft Cardstock
  • Scallop Square Nestabilities
  • World Travels stamp set
  • White Embossing Powder
  • White Pigment Ink

Knitted Dishcloths

My first attempt at KNITTED dishcloths!
I used a simple and easy pattern for these:
I used the first pattern of the three.
I really like this pattern as it's simple and "mindless" - meaning I can do it w/out having to think about what I'm doing.
I also like the weight of these -- they are very light.
I'm not overly fond of big, thick, heavy dishcloths -- they're too hard for my hands to wring out.
Both the yellow and blue combo and the knitted edge all the way around put make them my favorite dishcloths to date.
Yarn: I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby
This set went to a sweet friend as a hostess gift!!

Masculine Airplanes

The inspiration for these cards came from a card on nicole heady's blog....here.
I really liked the plane stamp she used -- but I learned a long time ago that you simply can't buy everything! So I usually try to find a free substitute (in this case a coloring page).
I flipped the image and made my own version of her card, actually two different versions!
The first one is a case of the one I linked to.
This one is a little less "fun" and a little more "sophisticated."
This second one is for my brother-in-law's birthday (next month) -- he's a pilot in AK.

BABY

Here's a shape card I made for a
soon-to-be-mommy.
I had lots of fun doing up the quilled flowers - even though it took me all afternoon to complete it!
I'm including a free template for making your own B-A-B-Y Shaped Card.
(Note: The top of the word goes on the fold of your paper to make a stand up card.)

American Girl Doll Fun

Two of my nieces got American Girl dolls for Christmas.
Bet you can't guess what I'll be gearing their birthday gifts towards this year!
One neicel has a birthday this Friday so I made her up a jean skirt, little duct tape shoes, and a mini duct tape purse with doll sized money inside!

RAG SKIRT
The skirt is recycled from a pair of my husband's old jeans.
I did the rag edge on it - simple and fast!
I used the pattern from You Can Make This -- the wrap skirt pattern.
I changed it up by not making it reversible and  using a button instead of Velcro for the closure.

DUCT TAPE SHOES
You can see in this pic that they fit perfectly!
And here you can see the cork bottom I put on them.

DUCT TAPE PURSE
Lastly, I made a little duck tape purse - lined w/pink gingham fabric.
I didn't follow any tutorial for this one -- just sort of made it up as I went along.
Inside I placed some mini money for her doll to spend.
Here's two free printables featuring mini money for your dolls.
I copied these images from Bank Note World - and resized them to fit the dolls.
If you're interested in money from another country or even old American money check out the Bank Note World site -- lots of money images there.
Here's the backs

Here's another purse I made for my daughter's doll - Felicity
This one has a soft pink fabric inside and a rhinestone on the front.
You can see it fits the doll perfectly -- either as a handbag or up on her shoulder
